Growing up Miller Style

When I was a young teenage punk I never dreamed I'd be the Mom to three kids. It's still amazing to me that these three young people look at me and see an adult, I keep waiting for them to figure out that I'm winging it most of the time!

So tonight I snapped pictures while the oldest got ready to go to the homecoming dance. A few years ago I was right in there, helping her curl, pluck and polish. Tonight she applied make-up with a practiced ease, styled her hair with nonchalant grace and left the house a self assured young woman. I guess I've done my job right so far.

Which brings me to the point of this evening's post. I was lately truly touched by a friend's blog title that was inspired by a Kenny Chesney song called "Don't Blink". For those of you who haven't heard it, an older gentleman advises us to not blink lest we miss the subtle changes that we so often dismiss. Tonight as I wait up for Em to return, (all flushed with excitement and exhausted from dancing), I'll try to remember that all this is very quickly coming to an end. If I blink to much, I'm going to miss it.
